I have put The Quilt Merchant up for sale. Thought I would share why, then you will know from me and not just guessing why. I have loved the journey, I have received so much from this business. Loads of great people to support us, many have become friends. I have learned a lot about quilting, ha ha you get the joke. Just to put it all out there Jim is well and doing great, his health is not the reason. It is just a different season in my life, one that I will enjoy to it's fullest, we will travel, have a great grandchild, go on retreats with friends-- hope you all will come a long, and make a Dear Jane, learn to knit better and spend time with my family! Beth and Jon are going to concentrate on their family. I hope someone steps forward to take over The Quilt Merchant so I can hang out with you all.

Love you all

Hand work for the winter

I have fallen in love with English Paper piecing. I needed something to work on in waiting rooms, a place I find myself in often now. I prep the pieces with the sewline glue stick, which I love! It cuts my time in half. Both of these samples will be about 15x18 and framed for the store. The tumblers are one inch, love it! The Texas star is about 2.5 from tip to tip.

I put my bobbin next to it to give you an idea of the size.

Went to my favorite antique store today and got a cute pair of white stockings to hang on the fireplace. I'm loving all the white things they are showing for Christmas decorating this year. I will take pics of all my new stuff soon!

Things that make me smile
Little kids wooden chairs
Old books
Anything white

Happy thoughts for everyone

This year has been a very long hard year for my family, many upsets and the passing of some very important people. I was thinking of my darling niece, Becky having to grieve the lose of her wonderful husband and I smiled at something Mike had said to me when my Mom passed,I will keep it in my heart forever. Sometimes you just have to look for the happy place!!! Grief does not define me, my family, friends and God are the defining moments I will remember forever. I love what I do and find myself smiling at certain things. Always look for the good stuff, the things that make you smile and the things that make your heart beat. My list is just that, my list. Some are silly, but they are mine! These are not in any particular order----

Old tattered quilts
The way buddy looks at me
Old boxes
Fall trees
Christmas trees
Old houses
Old houses, yes I said it twice
Black furniture
Black gourds
Small kids furniture
Wooden bowls
Eliza's jazz leg
New England
There is so much more I will share later. What makes you smile?

A Perfect Passing

I was very privileged and blessed to be with my Mom on Tuesday nite as She let go of her cancer ridden body and made the journey home to be with the Lord. Just before she left she tried to get out of bed and she took of her oxygen mask and said she need to get out of there (hospital) because her sisters were there to get her. I held her hand told her we all loved her, and that she should go with them. I will never be as blessed as I was at that moment.

lights out!!!!!

A big storm blew thru the area and knocked out the power, we still wanted to hang in there and work but it just got to hot. We finally gave up and took the day off.
Four of our grandkids are here for a visit, we are having lots of fun! Eliza loves to cuddle Benny. I will really miss them when they go home.
